Summer Concerts in the Eastern Panhandle, WV
Are you a music lover? If so, you are in luck with all the summer concerts in the Eastern Panhandle that are taking place this month! No matter what genre you like to listen to, you are bound to be able to find a show that you will enjoy. What’s even better is that most of the shows are free! Tonight you can check out the first Charles Town Friday Concert featuring the band Cazhmiere. This show is part of the annual First Friday Concert Series that takes place during the summer. The show will begin at 7:00 pm at Evitts Run Park. Pack a nice picnic dinner, grab a blanket, and make sure to get a good spot at the park! The weather is beautiful; you won’t regret a night of great music. There will be more Friday Concerts in Charles Town throughout the summer. You can also head on down to the Martinsburg town square tonight for the very first concert for the Fridays at Five Concert Series. Throughout the summer Mainstreet Martinsburg will be hosting local music performances in the Town Square every Friday evening at 5:00 pm. There will be music, drinks, and family fun. The performance tonight will feature Clement & Williams, a classic rock band. Throughout the month of June there will also be 50’s and 60’s oldies, country, and eclectic music. That’s quite a variety!
If you are looking for a fun festival to attend where you can hear some cool tunes, check out The Harpers Ferry Outdoor Festival on Friday, June 6th and Saturday, June 7th at The Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship. The festival will feature the following performances: Unfinished Business, West by God, Freedom Enterprise, Brokedown Hustlers, Double Barrel, the Woo Yeahs, The Braes, Sceondhand Reggae Band, Blue Nevada, Noetic Pull, Litz, Jake and the Burtones, and Atoka Chase. There will be other activities throughout the weekend too. The money raised from the event will go towards river and environmental conservation. The goal of the festival is to raise environmental awareness.
If Fridays are no good for you, don’t fear! War Memorial Park will be hosting their Summer Concert Series again this year on Thursday nights. Each Thursday there will be new performers, and the concerts are free. In the month of June, you can look forward to some classic rock, pop, and soul by Razmus; traditional bluegrass by The Back Creek Valley Boys, and some big band and jazz performed by the U.S. Navy Band/ ‘Commodores,’ an eighteen member jazz ensemble. Each show will start at 7:00 pm at the big pavilion in the park. For more information about the concert lineup, you can visit the Martinsburg Berkeley County Parks and Recreation website.
On June 11th, you can head on over to Harpers Ferry for a different kind of musical performance. Singer/songwriter Clark Hansbarger will be performing Civil War songs. The songs will be accompanied by the history and significance of the music. It will be a great learning experience. There is also a dinner that you can sign up for, which will be at 7:00 pm. The meal costs $15 and reservations are required beforehand. The event will take place at Camp Hill Methodist Church.
As you can see, there are a ton of opportunities to attend summer concerts in the Eastern Panhandle this June. We are so grateful that the community has come together to host such great music events.
