Shepherdstown, West Virginia is gearing up for an exciting month full of fun Halloween events. Whether you are interested in watching some scary horror flicks or if you are looking for some treats for the kids, the Halloween events in Shepherdstown this year are sure to be a good time!

Boo!Fest

shepherdstown halloween events 2014Boo!Fest is a week long Shepherdstown Halloween event that takes place throughout the town of Shepherdstown. This year the festivities will begin on Friday, October 24th ad run through Halloween night on Friday, October 31st. If you live in or near Shepherdstown, you will definitely want to bring your kids out for this spooktacular event. The event will kick off with a Vampire Ball held at the Shepherdstown Community Club at 9:00 pm. The entire day on Saturday and Sunday will be full of festivities for you and tour children to enjoy. There will be music, history and ghost tours, face painting, games, and a Haunted Hallway. You won’t want to miss the Zombie Street Dance on King Street Sunday night at 6:00 pm. Instructors will be teaching the “Thriller” dance to anyone willing to learn.

Throughout the week, you will also have the opportunity to hear some classic, creepy stories in different restaurants in town that will be hosting performance readings. O’Hurleys General Store will be hosting a night of fireside stories on Tuesday, October 28th from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm.

On Halloween night, there will be trick-or-treating throughout Shepherdstown starting at 6:00 pm. There will also be a Halloween concert with the Shepherd University Music Department and the Ram Band. This will begin at 7:00 pm in Reynold’s Hall. It’s going to be a fantastic evening of great Halloween fun!

Wicked Wednesdays

shepherdstown halloween events 2014Every Wednesday night in October, the Opera House Live in Shepherdstown will be hosting Wicked Wednesdays. They will be showing a double feature of classic Halloween and horror movies. Guests can attend these events for free. The first film will start at 6:00 pm and the second will start at 8:00 pm. They will also have palm reading and popcorn! Doors will open at 5:00 pm. The following movies will be shown during the Wicked Wednesday events:

October 15th: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and House of 1,000 Corpses

October 22nd: They Live and The Thing

October 29th: Dawn of the Dead and Shawn of the Dead

There will also be a special family double feature on Sunday, October 26th starting at 1:00pm. It will feature the films It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and Spirited Away.

Halloween Story Time

Lastly, the library in Shepherdstown will be hosting a Halloween story time event on Tuesday, October 28th at the War Memorial Building in town. Kiddos can come listen to stories from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm. This is a great Shepherdstown Halloween event for the little ones to get ready and excited for trick or treating on Friday night.
