The bitter winter cold has begun to subside, and the sun is shining brighter each day. Spring is almost here! That being said, Easter is right around the corner. This year, Easter will fall on Sunday, April 5th. We are hoping for sunshine and beautiful weather for sunrise church services, Easter egg hunts, and family get-togethers. If you are still looking for something to do for Easter, there are several Easter celebrations in the Eastern Panhandle this year that we believe will provide tons of great family fun.

If you have any little ones that would be interested in meeting the Easter Bunny, he will be with his crew over at the Martinsburg Mall beginning on March 31st during mall hours. He will be available for photographs through Easter Sunday.

Before Easter arrives, your children will have the opportunity to eat breakfast with Peter Cottontail and participate in a grand Easter egg hunt with Jefferson County Parks and Recreation. You will need to pre-register for the event, and there is a slight cost to attend, but the event is going to be a blast. In fact, there will be over 6,000 eggs to collect during the Easter egg hunt. Yes, you read that correctly: 6,000 eggs! That’s a lot of treats to be found. All the kids who participate will also be able to complete a nice Easter craft to take home.

Have you ever been to the Easter Pet Parade and Egg Roll in Martinsburg? This annual event is put on by Main Street Martinsburg, and it is a fantastic event for anyone who has a lovable and furry pet at home. The Easter Pet Parade will be full of fun-loving animals, some of which will even be dressed up in their Easter garb. You will not want to miss this one. It will take place on Saturday, April 4th at noon. If you are interested in being a part of the pet parade, it will begin at 11:45 at the corners of Martin and Queen Street. Prizes will be awarded to the pets who are best dressed and have the best Easter bonnet.

If you would like to treat your family and yourself to a wonderfully prepared meal on Easter, you should make reservations at The Clarion Inn in Shepherdstown on Sunday, April 5th. They have so many different options on their delicious buffet menu, so everyone is guaranteed to be satisfied. The brunch will take place from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm with seatings on the hour. Call (304) 870-7010 for reservations.

We hope you are enjoying this nice change in weather and that you are looking forward to a refreshing spring season. You can start off the season right by attending one of these Easter celebrations in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia.
