Jefferson County, West Virginia is a great place to be when the weather starts to warm up. There are a plethora of fun outdoor activities to enjoy during the spring and summer months here in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. Check out some of our favorite Jefferson County warm weather activities.

River Riders

River Riders in Harpers Ferry offers thrilling outdoor adventures that include rafting, tubing, zip line canopy tours, canoeing, aerial park adventures, stand up paddleboarding, kayaking, biking, and more. Harpers Ferry is situated right along both the Shenandoah River and the Potomac River. The area is beautiful, and the activities are a blast. River Riders offer specials and group discounts throughout the year. Jefferson County is an area that also has several beautiful parks that offer great outdoor fun. In Shenandoah Junction, near Charles Town, Sam Michaels Park has several athletic fields, playgrounds, and a fenced in area for dogs to run around. Make sure to keep an eye out for all the fun festivals and events that the park hosts throughout the summer.

Sam Michaels Park is also home to the Jefferson County Community Center, which hosts a variety of community events and classes. The center also has a fitness facility and rooms that the community members can rent for their own personal events.

Morgan’s Grove Park in Shepherdstown is also a wonderful place to hang out and play. The park features playgrounds, soccer fields, volleyball pits, a walking trail, and more. The park makes a great site for a picnic and afternoon of play.

Farmers Markets

Do you like fresh fruits and veggies? We sure do. We also like to support our local farmers and local artisans. Do you? If you do, then you need to head out to one of the farmers markets in Jefferson County. The Charles Town Farmer’s Market takes place in Downtown Charles Town every Saturday morning. Shepherdstown also has a couple farmers markets throughout the week. On Saturdays, Morgan’s Grove Market is set up from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm at Morgan’s Grove Park. Then, on Sundays from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm, there is the Shepherdstown Farmers Market, which is set up behind the library in town.
