Local Studio Tours in the Eastern Panhandle

The Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia is a place full of artistic talent. The month of November is a special time where residents and guests to the area have a grand opportunity to see some of that artistic talent on display. During November, there will be a studio tour held in both Berkeley County and Jefferson County. Anyone and everyone is invited to participate in these free events that allow you to get a sneak peek into the making of different artwork and crafts. Tours are self-guided and completely free. You will not want to miss out on this unique opportunity to see some of the beautiful creations that come out of the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia!

Trails and Trees Studio Tour

The Trails and Trees Studio Tour will be taking place on November 7th and 8th in Berkeley County, West Virginia. The tour will feature 11 different studios to visit with 16 different artisans at those 11 locations.

The 16 artisans will include Paul Berryhill, Kat Cimaglio, Ed Cimaglio, Frank Graves, Lynn Gundry, Anna Howard, Judy Jeffares, Mona Kissel, Jocelynne Lowans, Kathy McClung, Denise O’Brien, Martha Offut, Daniel Sampson, Carol Slovikosky, Bruce Waldron, and Dianne Waldron.

Each studio will be providing refreshments, and there will be opportunities to win fabulous door prizes. You can also enter the Passport to Creativity drawing for the chance to win a $200 grand prize.

Over the Mountain Studio Tour

The Over the Mountain Studio Tour will be taking place on November 14th and 15th in Jefferson County. Participants will have the opportunity to visit 9 different studios and see 24 artisans from 10:00 am and 5:00 pm.

The 36th Annual Mountain State Apple Harvest Festival is right around the corner! Are you excited?

Here are some of the events that will be taking place throughout the festival weekend.

Queen’s Reception and Grand Ball: Friday, October 16th, after the queen’s coronation, guests are invited to join the queen and her court in dancing the night away at the Queen’s Reception and Grand Ball. The event will take place at the Holiday Inn on Foxcroft Avenue in Martinsburg, West Virginia from 7:00 pm until 12:00 am. Live music will be provided by Larry Angus and Countdown.

Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast: Are you craving some delicious breakfast food? You will not want to miss out on the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, October 17th and Sunday, October 18th at Martinsburg High School. The word is that there is a secret sausage gravy recipe that is exceptionally yummy. Other breakfast items will include scrambled eggs, toast, juice, coffee, and of course, apples. Tickets are $6 in advance and $7 at the door.

Apple Trample 5K: Are you ready to get your run on? The annual Apple Trample 5K will be taking place on Saturday, October 17th right before the annual parade. The race has an option for walkers and competitive runners. The walkers will begin at 10:30 am, and the runners will begin at 11:30 am. Therefore, if you have never done a 5K before, this is a great opportunity to try one out for the first time in a no-pressure environment. You can register for the event on the Apple Trample website.

Grand Feature Parade: The Grand Feature Parade is always one of the most popular events throughout the Mountain State Apple Harvest Festival, and it is one event that you definitely want to see. The community will come together and line the streets of downtown Martinsburg for a grand parade that will include special guest appearances by Chris Soules from The Bachelor, former NFL player Ron Saul, and Shelley Moore Capito. The parade will begin at 1:00 pm, but if you get there early, you will get the chance to cheer on the Apple Trample 5K participants!

Saturday Night in the Park with Souled Out: Dance the night away at War Memorial Park on Saturday night to the tunes of Souled Out. The event will begin at 6:30 pm and run to 10:00 pm. It is going to be a blast! Concessions will be available.

Panhandler’s Square Dance at Eagle School Intermediate: If square dancing is more up your alley, head on over to Eagle School Intermediate Saturday night at 7:00 pm. The cost is only $12 for a night of square dancing fun!

We think you should be very excited because the Eastern Panhandle has a variety of upcoming events to celebrate this great fall season. Let’s take a look at some of the Eastern Panhandle Fun Fall Events for this year.

Orr’s Farm Market Fall Farm Fun Days

On Saturday, September 26th and Sunday, September 27th, Orr’s Farm Market will be hosting their Farm Fun Days event. The event will feature live bluegrass music, hayrides, pumpkin patches, corn mazes, treats, crafts, and more! Kids can enjoy face painting, pumpkin painting, moon bounces, and special cartoon visitors Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse. Make sure to visit the market at some point from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm on Saturday or 10:00 am until 4:00 pm on Sunday. Don’t forget to purchase some delicious apple cider doughnuts before you leave!

Chili Cook-Off

On Saturday, October 3rd, head on over to the town square in Downtown Martinsburg for some warm chili! Main Street Martinsburg will be hosting a Chili Cook-Off from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm, which will feature fun for the whole family. You will be able to listen to some great live music, grab an adult beverage, grab a taste of chili, and have a grand old time. Don’t miss out on this one!

Apolloween

If you are in love with Halloween, you will be in love with the Apollo Civic Theatre this year as they are hosting four fantastic Apolloween events throughout October. There will be the famous Haunted Theatre, the iconic Rocky Horror Picture Show performance, paranormal investigations, and a spooktacular Monster Bash. The proceeds from these events will go toward keeping local live theatre alive in Martinsburg. We can’t wait!

Wonderment Puppet Theater – Hansel and Gretel

The Wonderment Puppet Theater in Martinsburg will be having puppet performances of the famous Hansel and Gretel story throughout the month. Every Saturday and Sunday at 1:00 pm guests are invited to come check out the show for $5 per person. The Wonderment Puppet Theater accepts cash or checks. Birthday boys and girls are allowed free entry, so if you have a child with an October birthday, this maybe the perfect birthday treat!
